Two People Die in Uvalde, Others Injured in Crash on Highway 83 South near Zavala County Line

A major accident on Highway 83 South near the Nueces River Bridge has been reported. It left two dead and happened on January 25, 2023 around 4 a.m. According to Uvalde County Constable Emmanuel Zamora, the crash occurred near the Zavala County Line and La Pryor Crossing when a car crashed on the bridge. Two people in the same vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene and others inside the vehicle were reported to have suffered injuries. AirEvac and Air Medical Ambulance responded to this crash. This caused a major shutdown of the highway lasting several hours. No identities have been released. According to Texas DPS, the investigation is ongoing.
