On December 8, 2022, just before midnight, police responded to two separate crashes on the Dallas North Tollway. The first occurred when a gray Mercedes Benz, driven by Carl Shockney (68), was traveling northbound in wet and rainy conditions. Shockney failed to stay in his lane, attempted to correct and ended up skidding off the road, crashing into a temporary retaining wall on the left outer lane. The Mercedes came to a stop in the number 2 and 3 lanes facing west. Despite this, 15 cars were able to safely pass the crash site, including a silver Toyota driven by Alexander Milogradov (43). However, a Ram 2500 driven by Edward Williams (58) was unable to control his speed and take proper evasive action, resulting in a second crash that struck both Shockney and Milogradov. According to the investigating officer, Williams showed signs of intoxication and refused a specimen, though a warrant was not able to be obtained at the scene. Williams was therefore booked into Collin County Jail for DWI without a specimen. Shockney was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Both Shockney and Milogradov were taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries.
