According to WFAA, a Dallas Alert System helped authorities stop a wrong-way driver before she caused a crash. It happened in the early morning hours of October 14, 2022 when the driver got on the southbound lanes of the tollway near downtown Dallas and drove north 14 miles to Keller Springs Road in Addison, where the 31-year-old woman encountered construction trucks that blocked the roadway to prevent traffic and another fatality caused by a wrong-way driver. The trucks were utilized when DPS was notified by the alert system. It is unclear how long she was driving the wrong way before the system detected it. Some roadways in North Texas now have been equipped with these alert systems that can detect when a driver goes the wrong way. Police have arrested the woman but her identity has not been released. This incident is following the recent crash caused by a wrong-way driver that claimed the life of Dallas police officer Jacob Arellano.
