Cooke County Drunk Driving Crash Claims the Life of the Driver and Seriously Injures the Passenger

On September 18, 2022, just after 6:30 p.m., Texas State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-35 in Valley View, Cooke County. The crash report states that a white Ford E250 van driven by 33-year-old Jose Ubaldo Gallegos-Armendariz was traveling southbound on I-35. The driver failed to maintain a single lane and jerked the wheel causing it to enter a skid. The vehicle struck a light pole and started to rollover until it crossed the service road and struck a stop sign. The vehicle sustained left side and top rollover damage. According to the report, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 41-year-old Ruiz Villanueva Raquel, suffered serious but non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to a local hospital. It was later determined that the driver had a BAC of .308 at the time of the crash. The officer indicated on the report that this may have contributed to the accident.
