On the evening of June 25, 2023, a significant collision occurred outside the city limits of Midland in Midland County. The incident took place at the intersection of FM-307 and CR 1140, involving two vehicles. The first vehicle involved was a silver 2012 Nissan Altima sedan driven by Julio Aldaco, a resident of Midland. The second vehicle was an 18-wheeler, specifically a white 2018 Volvo bobtail truck, operated by Austin Jeffrey Holmes, who hauls from Mt Laurel, New Jersey.
According to the investigator’s narrative, the events unfolded as follows: Julio Aldaco was traveling westbound on FM-307, while Austin Jeffrey Holmes was headed eastbound on the same road. Tragically, the driver of the sedan failed to maintain control of their vehicle, crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with the front of the 18-wheeler. The impact of the crash caused the 18-wheeler to skid sideways, crossing over the westbound lanes. Ultimately, it collided with a fence and a light pole on the right side before coming to a rest on the property of located at 1908 SCR 1138, facing north. The sedan, came to a halt on the south shoulder of FM-307, facing east.
The collision resulted in injuries, with Julio Aldaco sustaining Severity A injuries. However, Austin Jeffrey Holmes did not report any injuries at the scene. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and Julio Aldaco was promptly transported to Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas, for necessary medical attention.
