A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning killed one person. The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the crash in the 3300 block of Interstate-27’s southbound access lanes shortly after 1:15 a.m. on Aug. 21. Reports indicate 68-year-old Ramiro Rodriquez was driving a Dodge Charger south on the interstate’s access road. Rodriquez continued forward and crashed into a light pole as the vehicle approached 34th Street in the turning lane. He passed away at the scene of the accident from his injuries. According to police, the crash is still being investigated.
