March 28, 2023 – Severo Muniz killed, Brandon Rosenthal & Mario Olivas injured in multi-vehicle crash in Odessa, TX

A crash involving three motorcycles and a car happened on March 28, 2023 around 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of E 42nd Street and Governor Preston Smith Road. Investigators say that a Green Kawasaki Ninja driven by Severo Muniz was traveling east in the 5000 block of E. 42nd Street along with two other motorcyclists, when a driver of a Nissan Altima heading west failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left-hand turn onto Preston Smith Road. The Nissan caused the Ninja operated by Muniz and another Ninja operated by Brandon Rosenthal to crash into the Nissan, driven by Griselda Cardenas. The crash caused a Honda CB100 driven by Mario Olivas to also crash. Muniz was transported to the hospital where he later died. Rosenthal was transported with serious injuries and Olivas was treated and released from the hospital. Police say the investigation is ongoing. It is unclear that this time, if the driver of the Nissan will face any charges.
