According to the Lufkin Police Department, 64-year-old Erie Downs was driving southbound in the 900 block of Southwood Drive when he lost control of his Ford truck causing it to leave the road and flip several times. It happened early on Sunday, January 15, 2023. According to the report he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Police pronounced him dead at the scene. No other details are available at this time.
