February 12, 2023 – Collin County Head-on Collision Claims Life, and Seriously Injures Jose Esequiel Sanchez

A crash report released by the Texas Department of Transportation indicates that officers suspect a driver who killed himself and injured another in a head-on crash had been drinking. The crash happened at approximately 10:08 p.m. on February 12, 2023 when a Hyundai Sonata driven by Jeffery Beene was traveling southbound on SH 78 just south of Blue Ridge veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Dodge 2500 driven by Jose Esequiel Sanchez. Beene was pronounced dead at the scene and Sanchez was transported to Medical City Plano with incapacitating injuries. According to the report, family members of the deceased stated that Beene had been consuming alcoholic beverages late into the evening/early morning hours and multiple alcoholic beverages were found in the vehicle. The investigation is pending toxicology results.
