Christopher Kresge killed and Michael Paul Villa charged in Cooke County, TX Drunk Driving Crash

On January 30, 2022, at approximately 4:07 a.m., the Cooke County Dispatch received a call regarding a crash at County Road 426 and FM 373 in Cooke County.  According to the crash report. Texas DPS responded to the scene of a major crash involving two vehicles.  Unit 1, a brown Ford F250 driven by 17-year-old Michael Paul Villa, was traveling westbound on CR 426.  Unit 2, a black Chevy Silverado is driven by 21-year-old Christopher Kresge, who was traveling eastbound on CR 426. Both vehicles met at the crest of a hill in the roadway with the front left of the vehicles making contact, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.  Mr. Villa continued forward until he came to rest in the roadway.  Mr. Kresge continued eastward where his vehicle left the roadway and caught on fire.  Mr. Villa suffered incapacitating injuries and was airlifted to Medical City Denton.  Mr. Kesge was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.  The toxicology report was obtained for Mr. Villa revealed he had been drinking prior to the accident.  It showed he had a BAC of .152.  Mr. Villa was subsequently charged and indicted for Intoxication and Manslaughter.
